Formula Classic celebrates historic open-wheel and sports racing cars from 1960 through to the 1990s — genuine period racers brought back to the circuit. Based in Western Australia and running since 2008, the category grew out of Motorsport Australia's 5th Category (historic) log-booked cars and was broadened by popular demand to welcome a much wider range of single-seaters and open sports cars, with other suitable machinery accepted as Invited Vehicles. What ties the grid together is authenticity: every car is the real thing, having genuinely competed in period.
