Nestled around the scenic Albert Park Lake in Melbourne, Victoria, the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit is one of the most iconic temporary street circuits in the world. Originally hosting the Australian Grand Prix in the 1950s, the modern era of the track began in 1996 when it moved from Adelaide to its current home. The circuit is renowned for its fast, flowing nature and its picturesque setting, with the stunning Melbourne skyline providing a dramatic backdrop for world-class racing. While primarily famous as the home of the FIA Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the venue also hosts major categories like the Repco Supercars Championship, Formula 2, and Formula 3 during the event weekend. The track layout is a unique mix of high-speed sections and technical chicanes, requiring drivers to adapt to the evolving grip levels of a public road surface that transforms into a high-octane race track once a year. The atmosphere at Albert Park is electric, particularly during the autumn months when the global motorsport community descends upon the city. Fans line the lakeside and lush parklands, enjoying a festival-like environment that extends far beyond the track. Significant recent modifications to the layout have increased top speeds and created more overtaking opportunities, ensuring that Albert Park remains a premier destination for both spectators and competitors in the Australian motorsport calendar.

During major events like the Grand Prix, public transport is the most efficient way to access the venue. Extra tram services operate from the Melbourne CBD, and travel is often free for ticket holders on specific routes connecting Southern Cross and Flinders Street stations to the park gates. Parking is extremely limited in the immediate vicinity of Albert Park during race weekends, and many local streets are restricted to resident-only access. Visitors are strongly encouraged to utilize the park-and-ride options or leave vehicles in the city and complete the journey by tram. Dedicated bicycle parking is also typically available at various entrance gates for those cycling to the venue.
