Friday Night Drifts transforms Calder Park Raceway into a high-energy drifting festival where 50 drivers participate in six hours of continuous track time and tandem battles. The event utilizes the Thunderdome's FD Layout, a technical configuration known as the Concrete Jungle, designed for proximity and spectator viewing of high-speed entries. Fans can see the Freestyle Kings perform motocross stunts and flips over drift cars between track sessions. The pit area is open to the public, allowing attendees to see over 60 unique drift cars and meet the teams. A premium show and shine area also displays a variety of JDM and Euro street builds competing for trophies. The venue features a dedicated Kids Zone with face painting and activities, making it accessible for families. Trackside amenities include food trucks, the KIR Bar, and a merchandise area with live commentary and music playing throughout the evening. For those wanting to see the action from the passenger seat, rides with professional drivers are available for booking.

Children aged 8 and under are free. Strictly no drugs, alcohol, or pets allowed within the venue. Hearing protection is recommended due to high noise levels. Accessibility needs can be accommodated by emailing the organizers in advance. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Calder Park Raceway is one of Australia’s most storied motorsport facilities, located just outside of Melbourne in the suburb of Keilor North. Originally opened as a short sprint track in 1962, the venue expanded significantly under the ownership of legendary racer and businessman Bob Jane. It is perhaps most famous for the Thunderdome, a 1.8-kilometre high-banked tri-oval built in the late 1980s to bring American-style stock car racing, including NASCAR and AUSCAR, to Australian soil. The venue’s layout is unique, featuring several configurations including a traditional road circuit, a world-class drag strip, and the aforementioned oval. Over the decades, it has hosted a wide range of major events, from the Australian Grand Prix—notably including the first-ever round of the Formula One World Championship held in Australia in 1980—to the popular Off Street Drags which provide a legal environment for local car enthusiasts to test their vehicles. Today, Calder Park remains a vital hub for grassroots and professional motorsport in Victoria. While some parts of the facility have faced challenges over the years, it continues to serve as a primary location for drifting competitions, track days, and drag racing. Its proximity to the city and its long-standing history make it a sentimental favorite for generations of fans who grew up watching international stars compete on its diverse tracks.

Situated approximately 25 kilometers northwest of Melbourne's city centre, Calder Park Raceway is easily accessible via the Calder Freeway. Visitors traveling from the city should follow the M79 motorway directly to the venue entrance in Keilor North. Parking is available on-site within the grounds, though the specific parking areas can vary depending on whether the event is held on the drag strip, the road circuit, or within the Thunderdome area. It is advisable to check specific event details for the most convenient entry gate.
