Established by Tony Whateley, Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park is a sprawling 8,000-acre private property situated in the heart of the Riverland region in South Australia. Originally functioning as a working farm, the site has been meticulously developed over the years into a premier destination for off-road enthusiasts. The terrain is incredibly varied, featuring everything from deep mallee sand and open clay pans to technical rocky sections, providing a comprehensive testing ground for both recreational drivers and professional racing teams. The venue gained significant national recognition as a host for the Loveday 400, a sanctioned round of the Australian Off Road Championship (AORC). This event sees elite buggies and trophy trucks navigate a demanding circuit that utilizes the natural limestone and sandy ridges of the property. In addition to high-level desert racing, the park frequently hosts winch challenges, mud-drags, and specialized 4WD competitions. Its custom-built stadium track is a particular highlight, offering spectators clear views of technical obstacles and jumps that are rarely seen in traditional cross-country events. Beyond the competitive aspect, Loveday functions as a complete lifestyle destination for the motorsport community. The property includes the Loveday Tavern, a licensed venue that serves as the social hub for events, and extensive camping areas located along the Murray River. The park is located approximately 15 kilometers south of Barmera. From Adelaide, the journey takes roughly 2.5 hours via the Sturt Highway. Ample parking is available on-site, with specific areas designated for day visitors and those towing trailers or caravans. While the main access road and the areas around the Tavern are accessible by standard vehicles, many of the internal tracks and spectator points along the race course require a 4WD vehicle for safe access.
